Fox seems to finally have a Sunday night hit that isn’t full of yellow flesh or created by a guy named MacFarlane. And it seems that way because they just ordered 22 episodes and a fourth season of Bob’s Burgers, the Loren Bouchard-created, H. Jon Benjamin/Kristen Schaal/Eugene Mirman-starring animated series.
Back in August, Fox ordered six extra scripts for the currently-ongoing, guest-star-laden season 3. Now, they’ve picked it up for another season, and seem to be really into it. According to Deadline, Fox chairman Kevin Reilly is in a bit of a love affair with the show so far: “We love Bob’s[.] We are really proud of the way the show has grown over the past three seasons — without losing the unique voice at its core — and we know that the best is yet to come for Bob’s Burgers and its fans.”
The show was also nominated for an Emmy this year, unfortunately losing out to The Penguins of Madagascar. This is the first Animation Domination title with staying power in a long, long time. Amidst a schedule of Seth MacFarlane-helmed-and-created shows, The Simpsons, and shows that have come and gone like Allen Gregory and Napoleon Dynamite, Bob’s has stuck around and is finally, in its third year, an established part of the network’s Sunday night animation block.
Bob’s Burgers is currently airing brand-new episodes Sundays at 8:30PM. There is a new episode this Sunday, but none next week due to the World Series. But it’ll probably be right back the week after so get watchin’.
