Thursday night, Rob Corddry was on The Late Show with David Letterman. As our writer and friend 55 and I watched it, Dave prefaced the interview with “the Emmy-award winning show, Childrens Hospital.” Obviously, we already were aware that it won that award, but it’s still so cool to hear: Emmy-award winning show. And it’s an Adult Swim show. This network’s best content is finally getting the recognition it deserves, and it’s super nice.

We saw Rob again on Saturday, at the third of three panels that day, the Childrens Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV:: panel. The shows did their paneling together, as a family. David Wain didn’t even have to leave the room, since he was back for this after Superjail!. We saw promos/music videos for both shows: Childrens Hospital’s promo video was one you may have seen, where the doctors have a blood fight, spraying blood from patients at a blood drive at one another and throwing bags of blood like water balloons. NTSF’s promo was one directed by music video director duo The Daniels and has the NTSF team showing a criminal who they are, exactly, to the tune of some dubstep:

After the video was shown, Paul Scheer spoke about the fact that to shoot the video, the actors all used real guns, which terrified every last one of them. They were asked if they knew how to fire a musket, and they obviously did not. One of the panelists commented that he doubts they really come across too many people with musket experience. It is a totally weird thing to have.

We got to see clips from each show during the panel. Two from NTSF, including one with Ray Liotta as the office mail guy, pretending he could be an assassin and that since he can’t remember anything before 2006, he’s positive he was trained to be an assassin in the years he lost, hoping he could get a job on something other than mail. Another starred Aubrey Plaza claiming to be a “rememberer”. She’s presented with a photo of a robbery, and asked to remember what happened there, to which she responds, “I… remember… you giving me this photograph…”

From Childrens Hospital, we saw the return of Nick Offerman to the show, visiting Rob Heubel’s character Owen, an ex-NYPD officer. Offerman’s character, Owen’s ex-partner Briggs, comes to the hospital for a check on his hearing, as he’s going deaf. He didn’t notice until a kid yelled “don’t shoot” one day and he shot.

The NTSF:SD:SUV:: side of the panel had a handful of news.  In early December, the 5th or 6th, the show will have a Christmas special. It’ll be done as found footage, as a sort of Paranormal Activity parody. Also later this year will be something we heard about at the Upfront, an NTSF infomercial, NTSF:SD:SUV::Home Security System. According to Paul Scheer, the special will lead you to an NTSF iOS app, which you’ll learn more about soon (when we can tell you).

Both shows recently got picked up for more seasons, and Childrens Hospital is currently in the midst of a new season. The episode Thursday night will be a year in the life at Childrens, packed into 11 minutes. Check it out this week. Watch both shows Thursdays at 12 and 12:15.
