So here’s the thing about this operation: it’s people. It has been since 2002, when this site was a fan page about a show concerning talking fast food. Every review, every convention writeup, every podcast episode, every weird archive rescue — a human did that, on purpose, mostly for love.

And right now we could use a few more humans.

The obligatory clarification, before anyone gets excited: we are not Adult Swim. We’re the independent, fan-run outlet that’s been covering them — and a lot more — since 2002. Joining us gets you a byline and a press badge, not a desk at Williams Street. We cannot hire you to make cartoons, greenlight your pilot, or pass anything along to the network, no matter how good it is. (It’s probably good! We still can’t.) The FAQ has the longer version.

The last year has been the busiest in a long time. We merged Adult Swim Central and Art Comedy Pop-Culture Network into one site. We rebooted ACPN Podcasts with a brand-new lineup of five shows, with a new class joining every quarter. We’re streaming on Twitch, we’re at the conventions, the Test Pattern newsletter is rolling, and the archive project has resurrected coverage going back more than a decade. The machine is running. It just needs more hands on it.

Who we’re looking for

Writers. News, reviews, features, essays. Adult Swim is the heart of it, but the network half covers comedy, animation, film, conventions, toys, and games — if you’ve got a beat you care about, there’s probably a home for it here.

Video people. We have a YouTube channel and convention footage going back years. If editing or making videos is your thing, we have more ideas than hands.

Event and convention folks. If you’re already going to cons and want to cover them properly — panels, interviews, show floors — we can back you up with the press side.

Collectors and players. Toys, collectibles, board games, card games, fun stuff!

What you get

Honesty first: this is a volunteer crew. Nobody here is getting rich, including the guy writing this. What we offer instead is a real platform with a two-decade history and a growing audience, press access — screeners, review copies, interviews, convention badges — and a byline on an outlet that publicists can actually find (we’re on Muck Rack, which means the PR world can see your work here). Plus a Discord full of people who care about the same stuff you do.
