This past Sunday, Adult Swim aired Superjail’s Season 4 premiere episode. If you haven’t seen it yet or forgot to record it, Swim has it online right now for free along with seasons 1 – 3. I suggest you at least watch the finale episode of Season 3 as it goes hand in hand with the premiere.
The episode, rightfully called “Superhell!”, answers the questions as to what happened to everything and everyone after The Warden and Ash went all pyromaniac on us. Somehow, they managed to answer these questions and get everything resolved in 15 minutes with mass amounts of deaths along the way of course.
It also managed to bring back some other characters though only briefly and for rescuing purposes. We see the Mistress is still a hippie and now dating her prison guard Bruce, her assistant Sharice was determined to get back her presumed dead love, Jared but ended up with the Doctor, and our beloved Cancer came back in the form of Ash’s sad memories.
The ending was simple and hilarious. Happy thoughts caused the mess so obviously sad thoughts should fix everything and it did. Everyone’s thoughts played a part in the success of returning Superjail. The Warden’s sad thoughts were, no doubt, of his many unpleasant memories of him and his father. I mention that as this episode was aired on Father’s Day of all days.
“Superhell!” was clearly a “lets open to wrap things up to where we can get everything back to our normal disorder of things for the rest of the season” type of episode while still being as random as any episode of Superjail would be. Now with everything being “back to normal” Superjail fans can expect more adventitious discord for the remaining of the season.
