Sugar, spice, and everything nice are the ingredients needed to make perfect little girls. But when some Chemical X is accidentally added, you get “The Powerpuff Girls!” Cartoon Network announced on Monday, in 2016 “The Powerpuff Girls” will be returning to television in a brand new version of the series.
Back in January, a special titled “The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed” (which also featured the involvement of former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr) aired. No further details were given about the new series, nor is it clear if the re-imaged girls used in the special will also be used for the new series. Even still, we could probably expect the original voice actors for the main girls to at least return.
“The Powerpuff Girls” originally aired back in 1998 and was created by Craig McCracken who also created other shows for Cartoon Network such as “Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends”. For 78 episodes, it was a show about 3 kindergarten-aged girls with super powers who lived with their creator/father-like Professor and fighting crime against various evildoers all before bedtime.
