The Primetime Emmy Awards don’t happen until September 22nd. The big show at least– the Creative Arts awards ceremony happens on September 15th, and the juried awards in a variety of creative categories, chosen by a group of peers in each category, will be formally given out there.
Can’t wait until the 21st when that ceremony airs on FXX? The juried winners have been announced and amongst winners that have ex-Cartoon Network personnel on staff (winner for background paint, Mickey Mouse in Croissant de Triomphe, has Paul Rudish directing) and winners that could potentially end up on Adult Swim one day if Turner wants to shell out tons and tons of cash (character animation winner, The Simpsons), two current Cartoon Network shows won creative awards.
The bigger win, the headline, of course, is the win for Adventure Time. Andy Ristaino won the creative arts Emmy in Character Design for his work on the Adventure Time episode “Puhoy”. The episode finds Finn distraught because Flame Princess didn’t laugh at one of his jokes, and instead of confronting it or forgetting about it, he heads into a pillow fort to shut himself off and fester on his problem a bit, only to find himself in a new universe where he leads a totally separate and full life with a world of people made of pillows, who eat pillows, and live in, on, and around pillows.

Also picking up a win was the CN series Dragons: Riders of Berk. Character designer Andy Bialk won the statue for that series for episode “We Are Family (Part 2)”.
