It was announced this week that Stoopid Monkey, LLC, the production company established by Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matt Senreich (both the company and creators were similarly responsible for Titan Maximum), are planning to move on from ShadowMachine Films (previously responsible for Robot Chicken & Titan Maximum) and form their own stop-motion animation studio.

To do this, Stupid Monkey will be merging with a stop-motion animation company called Buddy System Studios, forming in a Voltronian manner (not unlike Titan Maximum), to make Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

How will this effect the quality of Robot Chicken, in terms of both animation and production in general, now that ShadowMachine are out of the picture? Earlier this year, prior to the merger, Stoopid Monkey and Buddy System did collaborate on some shorts for the Stoopid Monkey YouTube Channel. You can check those out to get a sampling of how they work together.

Season six of Robot Chicken, set to premiere April 1st, 2012, will be the first actual product of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios.

Editor’s Note: Considering ShadowMachine Studios also did animation for both Moral Orel and Mary Shelley’s Frankenhole, it will be interesting to see what happens with both S2 of Frankenhole and/or the possible Moral Orel special(s). Stay tuned.
