After a bit of moving up and around in the panel room, it was time for our second panel of the night. It was time for Eagleheart, the cop show parody produced by Conan O’Brien’s Conaco Productions and created by ex-Late Night writers Michael Koman and Andrew Weinberg.

We were first treated to a reel of clips from season 1, showing tons of the extreme graphic violence and blood the show has to offer, and an array of characters and situations the cast has seen in the first batch of episodes. Then out came the panel, which consisted of Chris Elliott (who plays Chris Monsanto,) Brett Gelman (who plays Brett,) Maria Thayer (who plays Susie,) Executive Producer Jason Woliner, and co-creator Michael Koman. The panel was again moderated by Keith Crofford like the previous Superjail! panel.

There was plenty to talk about here. Season 2 of the show is completed and ready to air and is set to do so in March. The cast promises the show will be even more violent in its second season, Chris Elliot telling everyone that “there’s a lot of murder.” And while they said the Death Punch that rears its head a few times in season 1 won’t be making an appearance in season 2, they’ve created much better, much more destructive things for Chris and the cast to do in the new episodes. So look forward to that.

We were treated to a clip from an upcoming episode, Bringing Up Beezor (episode 205.) It opens on a shot of Chris, Brett, and Susie with another man at a poker table, expressing their delight at their weekly poker games when Chris realizes– they don’t have weekly poker games. They all begin shooting, and afterwards they look at the things on the table and find they’re all fake, Brett eating poker chips, thinking they’re pepperoni. Instead, they were poker chips, and after consuming that (along with tons of beard hair,) Brett essentially gives birth to something called a beezor (a massive chunk of waste that was created in his stomach.) He then carries it around like a child, and it eventually turns out to be much, much more than just a ball of waste. The panel also discussed a couple of other upcoming episodes including one about Susie taking hormones so she can bust a hermaphrodite, and an episode where a homeless man is kidnapped so that his imagination can be stolen from him.

There was a bit of other news: season 1 will be out on DVD in February and each episode will feature cast and creator commentary, which they had just recently before the con finished recording.

Q&A followed everything, but it all pretty much focused on one thing: Brett Gelman’s Beard.

Press Hour Notes from Sentroid91: Unfortunately, the Eagleheart Press Hour began as Calvin and I were outside interviewing the Superjail creators. But here’s what I got…

  • Someone asked Chris Elliott a “Who Would Win?” question between Chris Monsanto and Chuck Norris. Elliott answered Monsanto, since Norris is “75 years old.”
  • Brett Gelman stated that his beard is much longer in Season Two.
  • Someone asked about the writing process. Michael Koman and Jason Woliner said that the theme of the show was “Family.”
  • Someone suggested a Zombie episode of the show where Monsanto can gun down armies of the undead in mindless violence. Brett thought the idea was “Pure Gold.”
  • Someone asked if Chris has any input on the show. He said he’s a consultant.
  • More episode pitches… mostly involving shaving Brett’s beard.
