In honor of the holidays, we here at Adult Swim Central would like to take the time to talk about some of our favorite [AS] holiday specials. I’ll start with ‘A Very Venture Christmas.’

The Venture Brothers Christmas special may have taken the easy road with some of their references. (Every classic from Charlie Brown to Christmas Carol to Rudolph. Although surprisingly nobody tells Hank he’ll shoot his eye out, as we all know he would. At least we get, ‘Nobody wants a Dean-In-The-Box.’)

But it didn’t take long for them to branch off and make Christmas traditions of their own.

Highlights of the Christmas special include The Monarch’s use of everybody’s favorite little secret agent, Tiny Joseph, to rig the Venture’s decorative nativity into an explosive device.

And of course Hank and Dean summoning the Krampus into the Venture household with the help of Dr. Orpheus’ Necronomicon.

And don’t worry about it ending with an in your face moral like every other Christmas special. There’s none to be found. Much like my favorite Christmas movie, Die Hard, it shows us that the true spirit of the holiday lies in mindless action. Who really needs Santa to spread good cheer when you can watch Brock Samson rolling around on the floor beating the crap out of the Krampus? Yippie-kay-yay Team Venture.
