Fox Launches Animation Domination HD Online

Fox hasn’t had original programming on Saturday nights since way back when in 2010. The night was dominated by MADtv for years, until its run ended in 2009, and from 2003-2009, they had a foray into late-night talk with Talkshow with Spike Feresten, hosted by the ex-Seinfeld writer in the title. For a few years now, the hours between Saturday night College Football and the next morning’s NFL pregame was primarily reruns and local news.
Early in the year, Fox announced plans to change all of that, and directly compete with Adult Swim, and Saturday Night Live, with Animation Domination High Definition, or ADHD. The block will be spearheaded by former Adult Swim development head Nick Weidenfeld, and will feature, much like Adult Swim, 11-minute episodes of original series. The network plans to launch it in January and plans to have four new 11-minute series every season. There has been one series announced thus far, an animated adaptation of webcomic Axe Cop, originally with popular animators Egoraptor (Arin Hanson) and Mark Moceri of Sick Animation amongst the in-house writing staff (I’m unsure of that being the case any longer, because I have heard from Hanson in YouTube videos that he’s no longer at Fox).
Yesterday, the network had a soft launch for the network’s online branch with a presence on virtually every one of the most popular social networks and a website, along with gifs aplenty and a handful of brand new animated shorts. ADHD is here, ladies and gentlemen.
Currently, ADHD is alive and running on YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, and Instagram. They also have their official website, which seems somewhat like a Tumblr, but includes different content and links to everything else. The network will hit the air Saturday nights come next year with original animated content. Until then, its online presence will be updated with new animated shorts, gifs, and more.
A big congrats and good luck to Nick Weidenfeld on his Fox block finally launching. We look forward to new original content from him, and to the network actually launching.
Whet your appetite for ADHD with the content online now. Go follow the block everywhere. Go do it.
