Last night, an ad aired on Adult Swim bringing a thing to our attention that we don’t totally understand but we totally signed up for anyway.

This is Thing X. What is it? We don’t have the slightest clue. No one really does, but there are some details we have so far that are pretty coherent.

First off, we understand it’s Adult Swim related (when registering for an account for Thing X, the login page is on adultswim.com). Second, there are a bunch of former staffers from The Onion working on it, including Joe Randazzo and Joe Garden, both featured in this video:

Third, we know about that video.

We also found via Laughspin that Thing X has a Pinterest (like us!) and that Pinterest includes a handful of photos of celebs showing their support for Thing X with big ol’ novelty boxing gloves. For some reason. Paul F. Tompkins, Dave Willis, Kathrine Narducci, and The Daily Show’s Kevin Bleyer are amongst those posing with huge gloves.

So, we don’t know what it is, and neither does anyone else. It was supposed to launch today, October 16th, but it has been pushed back to the 17th, with deepest apologies from Mike:
