adultswimshop.com Closes Its “Digital Doors”

adultswimshop.com, the home for new and old, exclusive and not-so-exclusive Adult Swim goodies has closed up shop.

A trip to the website brings you to the “Sorry, Folks” image I’ve included with this post. Most of the DVD goods have moved on over to Amazon.com, including the Shop-exclusive 12oz Mouse DVD. The exclusive Lucy Daughter of the Devil DVD is also listed on Amazon– but it is currently unavailable. I’m currently unaware what has become of the t-shirts. I would assume a look around on Amazon might find those shirts, too.

The non-AS goodies that one would generally see on ThinkGeek or a similar site should be available there or anywhere you may find novelty gifts like bacon mints.

I’ll miss the Adult Swim Shop. I remember purchasing those Etnies that wore out in a month. I remember getting Space Ghost volume 4 for super-cheap when I bought 5 along with it. I remember playing with the Create-Your-Own DVD maker. Farewell, Adult Swim Shop Dot Com. As you ride into the virtual storefront sunset, we will mourn you and your deals.

From now on, check your favorite DVD retailer for most AS shows. Most Best Buy stores should have AS content to buy, and if they don’t, their online shop does. Amazon should have a lot of the ex-shop-exclusives. You might be able to find them in other shops that sell DVDs as well.

It’s the end of a digital-storefont era.

Editor’s Note: I’m both saddened and pleased for the departure of the overly priced adultswimshop.com. I’ll always have fond memories… between waiting 3 months for my Master Shake Ceramic Cup to the whole “Natalie Wood Fiasco.”

Shop will be missed (in some ways,) but honestly I wouldn’t worry. This is [adult swim]‘s second attempt at a shop… who can forget back in the day when [as].com’s original shop would sell owl statues and pieces of wood. When [adult swim] feels demand is high and the economy is back to its former glory, [as] shop will more than likely return (hopefully with more affordable prices… and maybe some giveaways for our little site.)
