It seems like everybody is determined to make a Bible related project this year and Aaron McGruder and Adult Swim are no exception although according to Deadline.com, you can expect their show to be completely different than anything you’ll see on the other channels because their show is about Black Jesus. But don’t expect Huey Freeman’s Christmas Pageant from the Christmas episode of The Boondocks because Black Jesus is actually about, “Jesus living in present-day Compton, CA on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers.”
The series stars Gerald “Slink” Johnson, who you might know as Lamar David from Grand Theft Auto 5. It’s also got Charlie Murphy, Corey Holcomb and John Witherspoon. No word on when exactly the series is going to premiere but it’s currently in production right now and is supposed to show up sometime later this year. Between this and the new Boondocks season, Aaron McGruder’s certainly a busy guy. I can only
hope this means my fantasies for a Frisky Dingo spin-off about Karate Jesus and Fred Dryer fighting crime is closer to becoming a reality. Imagine that. Karate Jesus.
