Toonami has finally done it. They’ve come over a whole half hour and brought a new anime with them called Space Dandy. Need a description of the show? I can tell you in one sentence: Space Dandy is a Dandy in Space. Seriously, he has a pompadour and everything. Getting back to the episode premiere, we learn of what Dandy does in space among other things. He is an alien hunter along with his not so up to date robot companion QT and loves going to, and I’m not kidding, a “breasturant” named BooBies. I’ll let that sink in for a minute continue reading when you’re ready.
Back? Great, let’s move on. The animation is fantastic. Lots of aliens and a very unique look ship featuring the head of the Statue of Liberty……with a ball gage in it’s mouth. Story wise, it seems we’ll be following Dandy’s adventure as an alien hunter. And he’s not just looking for any ordinary alien, he have to be unique. The more unique the better because that’s how he’ll get monetary rewards for them. Speaking of unique, Toonami is actually the first to premiere this show in the whole world so kudos to them.
I’m personally looking forward to what Space Dandy has to offer for the rest of the duration of the show. This show is literally a trip and a nice transition from the comedy of Adult Swim into the action of Toonami.
