Possible Brock Samson cameo in Poker Night at the Inventory 2 *Updated*

There’s some potentially exciting news for you guys! Somebody out there has been snooping around trying to figure out what the mysterious ‘Key Party’ over at Telltale Games is all about and they’ve discovered some possible screenshots from a new game they’re supposed to announce next week. Turns out the new game happens to be a sequel to their 2010 release, Poker Night at the Inventory. For those who haven’t played it, the game’s basically your average computer poker game. I know, doesn’t sound all that great, but hold on, there’s a twist. Your favorite characters are the competitors and the dialogue is absolutely hilarious. The first game featured Tycho from Penny Arcade, Strong Bad from Homestar Runner, The Heavy Weapons Guy from Team Fortress, and Max from Sam and Max. (If you’re a fan of any of these characters, I recommend buying it. It’s only $4.99, it might even be cheaper on Steam. Also if you play TF2, you can win items for your characters within the game. I’m not even a Poker fan and I enjoyed it.)

Anyways, that’s not why I’m posting this, I’m posting this because [AS] fans may be excited to hear about one of the characters in the sequel. The Swedish Murder Machine himself. That’s right. Brock Samson. And if that’s not enough to get you interested there are plenty of other great characters like Ash Williams of the Evil Dead franchise, Sam from Sam and Max, Claptrop from Borderlands. (It’s a great cast but I kind of wish they threw Guybrush Threepwood in there if only to hear him tell Brock and Ash there’s a three-headed monkey behind them and then proceed to look at their hands.) Shots also show GLaDOS from Portal hanging around in the background.

That being said, you might be wonder why I keep using words like “potentially.” There isn’t an official announcement from Telltale yet. There’s supposed to be more news on April 1st, and we all know what happens on April 1st. But I doubt they’d have gone through this much trouble for an April Fool’s joke. They even uploaded some new items to the Team Fortress servers a few weeks ago. (Including the Samson skewer.)

I cannot wait to see what comes out of this. Telltale Games does such a fantastic job with their games and this is about the closest we’re gonna get to the age old question of ‘Who’d win in a fight, Brock Samson or Ash Williams?’ Except in this case, a fight happens to be a poker match. (Unless they get in a fight at the table, which seems like something that’d definitely happen.) We’ve already seen how good Brock is at poker in Dia De Los Dangerous, so Ash may have his work cut out for him, especially since they’re probably not playing by Tijuana Rules.

Update: It’s official! Head over to Pokernight2.com to watch the trailer.

There’s no release date as of now. We’ll keep you updated if and when we hear more.
