16 years ago, Cartoon Network launched a little action block that aired some anime and some American action shows or whatever. Some tiny thing. Something about tunas? And tsunamis?
That action block, better known as Toonami, is currently back on the air Saturdays on Adult Swim, which you knew. This weekend, though, is their birthday, and they’re throwing a shindig with a movie and some other stuff. Check the schedule for this weekend’s block:
12:00 – Bleach
12:30 – Naruto
01:00 – Evangelion 1.11
03:30 – FMA Brotherhood
04:00 – Cowboy Bebop
04:30 – Cowboy Bebop
05:00 – Inuyasha
05:30 – Inuyasha
If you’ve never seen Neon Genesis Evangelion and you’ve always been interested, you’re in luck. 1.11 is a great starting point and you can hop right in during Toonami this week. Toonami didn’t have time to make a promo for the movie, but FUNimation, the film’s rights holders in the States, threw together a little somethin’ somethin’. Check it:
So, celebrate Toonami’s sweet 16 this Saturday starting at Midnight. New Bleach, New Naruto, and then it’s a good ol’ movie night with Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone. Watch it. Only Toonami.
And, lastly, as a small bonus, recommended by our pals at Toonami Faithful via their Twitter, @ToonamiNews, here’s rapper KadeshFlow‘s birthday ode to Toonami. Enjoy:
