You probably thought you’d have to wait until 2013 to find out what’s going on with Season 5 of the Venture Brothers, didn’t you? Well Jackson Publick is here to give you a belated holiday gift with new updates. (He’s not actually here. He’s on Livejournal. Yup. He’s still on Livejournal.)
For one thing, he apologized for the lack of a holiday cover song this year. (If you haven’t listened to the annual Venture Brothers holiday covers, you really need to. Check them out here.) According to Jackson they were too busy preparing for the Mayan Apocalypse. That and working on season 5 of The Venture Brothers. But mostly the first one.
Here’s what he had to say about the status of the show.
So now it’s back to post-production. Here’s where we currently stand with the season: We’ve already delivered half of the fully finished episodes to the network, and the rest are in various states of post-production. This week we received the rough cut of the final episode from Korea (which is actually the second half of what will be our premiere episode) so I’m spending the day scouring it for errors and typing up retakes notes. Then tonight I’m headed to a final sound mix session for the 6th episode. We’ll finish the picture edit for the 7th episode a day or two into the new year and turn it over to our sound engineer, then move on to editing the 8th episode.
Also, he said we can expect to see plenty of guest stars including J.K. Simmons, Larry Murphy, Paget Brewster, John Hodgman, Wyatt Cenac, Tim Meadows, Gillian Jacobs, Bill Hader, and Kate McKinnon.
And the final piece of news is that there’s no official premiere date. But it’s expected that they’ll be done by mid-march to early May because they have to finish working on their hour long premiere episode first.
