Verizon FiOS Adds Cartoon Network HD To Channel Lineup

Cartoon Network launched its high definition feed way back in October 2007. Most providers have carried the feed since then– it launched on every satellite provider and a lot of cable providers. For a while, it was just stuck in Verizon’s upcoming channels list, though (I made inquiries a couple years back about it and they said “it’s coming”), and it was one of the HD channels people clamored for for a few years on both Verizon’s forums and social network sites.

Finally, Verizon has added the HD feed to their channel lineup. It popped up sometime last weekend, and has been running strong since. FiOS made their official announcement/forum post on their site a couple of days ago. For those with Verizon FiOS as their television provider, the channel is in the grouping of kids channels (and BET) late in the HD numbers right before the movie channels, at channel number 757. The SD feed is still available, of course, at 257. Everyone in every FiOS market should have the channel.

The HD feed airs all HD-produced programming in 16:9 high definition, of course. All standard definition programming is stretched to fill the full 16:9, which is a little awkward to people who want those shows in their native aspect ratio (in which case, the standard def channel is obviously still around), but totally ignorable to anyone who doesn’t mind.

Just in time, too. A Very Venture Halloween airs tomorrow night at 11:30PM on Adult Swim. Now FiOS customers can enjoy that in all its HD glory. And you can enjoy Toonami in HD, as well as new Regular Show this Monday at 8 and new Adventure Time come November 12th at 7:30.

So, FiOS customers, get set to finally enjoy everything in beautiful HD like everyone else over at channel 757. Change your DVR series settings over to the HD channel if you have any. And watch A Very Venture Halloween in HD tomorrow night at 11:30PM.

Finally!
