Those who’ve been following Adult Swim for a while probably know that they have somewhat of a history when it comes to controversial ad campaigns, having previously put the city of Boston in a state of panic over a light-up Mooninite sign designed to promote the Aqua Teen Hunger Force Movie. Well, they’ve done it again. This time with the ads for Childrens Hospital. Sources at TMZ say the Children’s Hospital of LA has recieved several complaints from people who have mistaken ads for the show with ads for the actual hospital.
The CHLA responded by sending a memo out in response to the ads–
It has been brought to our attention that there is some confusion surrounding a series of area billboards and bus stop advertisements promoting the adult television show Childrens Hospital. Please be advised that the advertisements are in no way associated with CHLA.
If the picture above is what the billboard currently looks like rather than the one in the featured image, it’s pretty hard to confuse it with an actual hospital. What with all the reminders that it was emmy-nominated. So, unless the stickers were taken off, the LA billboard didn’t have them, or people called in before they were added–I’m not sure how anybody wouldn’t figure out that “emmy-nominated” would be a hint that it’s actually a TV show. But you know what they always say about publicity, any publicity is good publicity.
