The real-life Major Lazer is made up of the duo of DJs and producers Diplo and Switch, who work together to create music that sort of twists and turns between reggae, hip-hop, and dancehall. Their 2009 album, Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do, was met with overall favorable reviews, and the follow-up EP, Lazers Never Die was released shortly after. There’s another album in the works, too.

There were also some music videos, two of which were directed by Eric Wareheim of, of course, Tim & Eric. One here, one here (I’d probably give these varying levels of NSFW, by the way).

The not-so-real-life Major Lazer, however, is, as this Buzznet article puts it, “a one-armed Jamaican ex-commando and nightclub owner who battles the forces of darkness while making reggae-tinged booty-shaking jams”. And, now, he’s heading to Adult Swim.

There are character designs to look at over at Buzznet. Included are designs for Major Lazer himself, Skerrit Bwoy (who you can see on stage at pretty much every Major Lazer show and/or DJ set going absolutely insane throughout the whole thing), and influential reggae and dub artist Lee “Scratch” Perry. Go take a look! And get ready for this one! No dates or any info on when it’ll air yet, but it should be a blast.

Childrens’ Hospital to Begin Airing In July https://adultswimcentral.com/2010/05/21/childrens-hospital-to-begin-airing-in-june/ https://adultswimcentral.com/2010/05/21/childrens-hospital-to-begin-airing-in-june/#respond Fri, 21 May 2010 22:18:00 +0000 https://adultswimcentral.com/?p=2552 While we’ve yet to hear anything about what came out at [ adult swim]’s annual Upfront Presentation this year, Turner.com’s Newsroom gave us this little tidbit on the upcoming Childrens’ Hospital by Rob Corddry (Daily Show, Hot Tub Time Machine):

All-Star Cast Set for Childrens’ Hospital on Adult Swim
Series created by and starring Rob Corddry, along with Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally and Henry Winkler

Childrens’ Hospital, a new comedy series created by Rob Corddry (Hot Tub Time Machine, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart) and featuring an all-star cast, is set to premiere on Adult Swim Sunday, July 11, at 10:30 p.m. (ET, PT). Childrens Hospital is based on the Webby Award–winning digital series that debuted on TheWB.com in 2008 and quickly became a Web hit with its twisted take on network medical dramas like Grey’s Anatomy and House. New episodes from Warner Bros. Television were shot this past spring in Los Angeles. The show’s creative team is led by Corddry and fellow executive producers/writers Jonathan Stern (producer of The Ten and Scotland, PA) and David Wain (director of Role Models and Wet Hot American Summer). The complete Childrens Hospital – including both the newly produced episodes as well as the original Webisodes – will premiere on Adult Swim beginning July 11.

Corddry is joined by an ensemble cast of comedic heavyweights including Malin Akerman (Couples Retreat, Watchmen), Lake Bell (How to Make It in America, It’s Complicated), Erinn Hayes (Parenthood, Worst Week), Rob Huebel (I Love You Man, Human Giant), Ken Marino (Party Down, Reaper), two-time Emmy® winner Megan Mullally (Will & Grace, Party Down) and Henry Winkler (Arrested Development, Happy Days).

Guest stars include Ed Begley Jr. (St. Elsewhere, Arrested Development), Lizzy Caplan (Party Down, True Blood), John Cho (Star Trek, Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle), Rachael Harris (The Hangover, Reno 911!), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, Oz), Kerri Kenney-Silver (Reno 911!, The State), Nick Kroll (The League, Worst Week), Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation), Marion Ross (Happy Days), Will Sasso (MADtv, Less Than Perfect), Paul Scheer (The League, Human Giant), Kurtwood Smith (That ’70s Show, Worst Week), Abigail Spencer (Mad Men, Angela’s Eyes), David Wain (Wainy Days, The State) and Matt Walsh (Reno 911!, Upright Citizens Brigade).

Childrens’ Hospital explores the emotional struggles and sexual politics of a group of doctors charged with healthy libidos. Their dedication to their personal lives is relentless, interrupted only by the occasional need to treat sick children.

Childrens’ Hospital is produced by Abominable Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. Television.
Warner Bros. Television (WBTV) is one of the entertainment industry’s most respected providers of original content, producing award-winning drama and comedy series for both broadcast network television and cable. WBTV is currently producing more than 20 primetime series for the 2009–2010 television season, with at least one show on each of the five broadcast networks, as well as TNT and FX.
